K-Dramas, K-Idol's

My Lovely Girl/내겐 너무 사랑스러운 그녀

My Lovely Girl is a Korean Romantic-Comedy with an all-star cast. It aired on SBS from September 17 through November 12, 2014. This k-drama was highly anticipated being that it was Rain’s first since he was discharged from the Korean military in 2013.

Drama synopsis~

Lee Hyun Wook (Rain) is a talented music producer, who abandons his career after his girlfriend dies in an automobile accident. Krystal (f(x)) portrays Yoon Se Na, a struggling and hapless musician.

Hyun Wook begins to seek out Se Na, after receiving a mysterious phone call from her, on the phone of her deceased sister. Se Na and Hyun Wook initially struggle with one another, due to clashing personalities. Se Na diligently works, but fails to maintain steady employment. By contrast, Hyun Wook exudes an aura of over privilege.

Upon discovering the true identity and musical talent of Se Na, Hyun Wook returns to the music industry, becoming the president of ANA Entertainment.

The entertainment agency becomes the backdrop for the drama, which explains the amount of K-Pop idols within the cast. INFINITE’s L and Hoya are included in the cast, as well as Bestie’s Haeryung, T-ARA’s Dani, and electropop group Clazziquai’s Alex Chu.

Final thoughts~

I wish I could say that I enjoyed this drama from start to finish. Overall, it told a good story, but I am disappointed by the threads the writing team left loose at the end. I felt it needed at least one more episode to finalize everything. Without including spoilers, I’ll say that the acting was pretty decent, and parts of the story were believable; however, there was a lot of back and forth, especially toward the end. I almost feel as if the writers lost steam (or maybe even interest); like they were simply trying to get it done and over with as quickly as possible.

Would I recommend this drama? Yes.  The story was good, and there were definitely plenty of funny moments, as well as enough emotion to fill your heart with joy, anxiousness, or sorrow. My only tip is to keep in mind that you may finish the drama feeling unsatisfied and wanting more…all without more to be had. On a positive note, I now have a new bias in INFINITE. 😉

I give this K-Drama 3.5/5

I haven’t seen the last episode yet but I had a hunch it wouldn’t be a satisfying ending. I think I will watch it tomorrow and then tell you what I thought too.
