On October 19, 2014, UNIQ released the MV for their debut single, Falling in Love. The following day, the Chinese version of the MV was released. Three days later, on October 23rd, the group released a new song and MV, which just so happens to be the theme song for the Chinese release of the Hollywood movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. After another three days, the guys released a Let’s Dance video demonstrating the technique for three of their signature moves in the choreography for Falling in Love (this is a fun concept that many other idol groups also do. It gives fans a chance to see the guys in a more laid back atmosphere while they ‘teach’ their fans a part of the dance).
At this point, UNIQ has made weekly appearances on a number of music shows, performing and promoting their new single, and have also been guests on radio shows and variety television. Being a rookie group, they must work extra hard to make a name for themselves, but I was shocked and amazed when they released a new ‘Making Of’ video to accompany the release of Falling in Love in ENGLISH! But here’s the kicker…it doesn’t stop there! Most recently – on November 10th, to be exact – UNIQ released a MV for the theme song of the DreamWorks animated movie, “Penguins of Madagascar” entitled Celebrate, which was also recorded in English.
I’ve shared the explanation about their name once before, but I think it bears repeating:
The name UNIQ is a combination of the word “Unique” and the legendary animal “Unicorn.”
It signifies the members’ determination to become legendary and irreplaceably unique.
The team’s logo contains a symbol of a unicorn, showing how mysterious and unique UNIQ is.
I’d say that UNIQ is definitely making strides in becoming ‘legendary,’ don’t you? 😉 The journey has only begun, but I’m excited to see where it takes them.
You can support UNIQ by purchasing their brand new single from iTunes HERE.

Hey fans of rookie boy band, UNIQ~
1theK served up a special treat today (November 5th) by uploading the newest version of the groups title song, Falling in Love. So far, we’ve heard it in Korean, Chinese, and now…ENGLISH! If you haven’t already ‘fallen in love’ with these guys, you certainly will. This version includes behind-the-scenes video of the ‘making of jacket’ for their first album; where we get to see their personalities shine as they work hard, but still manage to act silly and look cute. Uploaded about an hour ago, the video already has over 450 “likes” and continues to rise!
You can check out the video below:
If you missed my first post introducing these guys, you can view it HERE. You can also check out their MV for the Chinese theme song (which is performed in English) to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles HERE.
I’m super excited to see and hear more from this group. What about you?!

Born to Fight~
UNIQ is definitely just that. This Korean/Mando group recorded Born to Fight as the theme song for the Chinese release of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. As you all know, Hollywood movies take a month or more to release in other countries, and vice versa. The MV was released on October 23rd, but I only just listened to it…well, now. (Lol) You could imagine my surprise when I heard them singing/rapping in English. I know it’s always easier to sing in English than to speak it, but their pronunciation is impeccable! Check it out for yourself:
I’m already impressed by their versatility! What are your thoughts?!

Several new groups have debuted this year, but only a small handful have really stood out; UNIQ definitely being one of them! The name UNIQ stems from two words: Unique & Unicorn, and according to the description under their debut MV, “[I]t signifies the members’ determination to become legendary and irreplaceably unique. The team’s logo contains a symbol of a unicorn, showing how mysterious and unique UNIQ is.”
This 5-member Korean-Chinese boy band has made their debut with the track, Falling in Love, and it does just that – makes you fall in love with them! (That is, if you haven’t already just from seeing their individual teaser videos! I’ll show you those in a bit~ 😉 ) YG and Yeuhua have collaborated to create this new group, and it’s reported that these guys have been training hard for the last 3+ years!
It may be kind of difficult to pick a bias, so here’s a little something to possibly make it easier – you can view each teaser, one right after the other here:
So far, I’ve been able to narrow it down to 3: Kim Sung Joo, Li Wen Han, and Zhou Yi Xuan, but truth be told, they are all hot, hot, hot! ^^
Oh, and did I mention that the MV for their title track is out?! Check it out below:
I literally had goosebumps from watching this MV. They have SO much potential, and I really think we’re in for an awesome “UNIQ” treat. 😉
